MiSight® daily disposable lenses are one of the clinically supported options for myopia used in our Arlington practice. These lenses are designed to correct vision while also providing a targeted optical effect that can support slower prescription changes over time.

What Is MiSight®?

MiSight® is an FDA-approved soft contact lens developed for myopia control in children. Unlike standard soft lenses that focus solely on vision correction, MiSight® incorporates a treatment design intended to influence how the eye grows. Because the lenses are daily disposables, each pair is used once and then discarded, which supports hygiene and simplifies the routine for children new to contact lenses.

How MiSight® Supports Myopia Management

Myopia progression typically occurs as the eye elongates, leading to increasingly higher prescriptions over time. MiSight® lenses help address this by altering the way light is distributed across the retina, which can signal the eye to slow this growth. When worn consistently, the lenses provide clear daytime vision while also contributing to long-term management goals.

Because effectiveness varies among individuals, MiSight® is always paired with close monitoring to ensure the treatment remains appropriate and beneficial.

Is MiSight® Right for Your Child?

A recommendation for MiSight® is based on a detailed evaluation of your child’s prescription history, age, rate of progression, and readiness to handle contact lenses safely.

During a myopia management consultation, we review refractive changes, assess corneal health, and consider visual demands such as schoolwork, outdoor activities, and screen use.

MiSight® is recommended only when the clinical findings support its potential benefit and when the child demonstrates the ability to follow a consistent wear routine.

MiSight® Fittings in Arlington

The fitting begins with a comprehensive exam and diagnostic measurements to confirm the proper selection of lenses. Your child will try the lenses in the office so we can assess comfort, vision, and lens behaviour on the eye.

We then provide hands-on training for insertion and removal, reviewing each step until your child and family feel prepared. Parents also receive clear guidance regarding hygiene, lens handling, and safe daily use.

Follow-Up and Ongoing Monitoring

MiSight® therapy requires regular follow-up to assess prescription changes, eye health, and overall response to treatment. During these visits, we compare new data with previous measurements to determine whether the progression rate has changed and whether adjustments to the plan are needed. If another myopia management method becomes more suitable as your child grows, we will discuss transitioning to it.

MiSight® FAQs

At what age can a child begin MiSight® therapy? Most children begin MiSight® between ages 7 and 12, though readiness depends more on maturity, hygiene habits, and objective findings than age alone.

How long does it take for children to adapt to MiSight® lenses? Most children adjust within the first several days. We provide training to ensure safe handling, and early follow-up visits help confirm that comfort and vision remain stable.

What happens if my child loses a lens during the day? Because MiSight® lenses are daily disposables, a lost lens can simply be replaced with a new one. We often recommend keeping a spare pair available at school or during activities.

Can MiSight® be combined with other myopia treatments? In some cases, yes. Depending on the findings from your child’s evaluation, MiSight® may be paired with other guided strategies.

If your child’s nearsightedness has been progressing or you want to understand whether MiSight® lenses may be a suitable part of their long-term care, we’re here to help. A myopia management evaluation allows our Arlington optometrist to review diagnostic findings, discuss expected outcomes, and outline how MiSight® integrates into a monitored treatment plan.
